In this sanctuary of echo and sonic revelry, our production explores the idea of seven different Joans meeting to characterize the many architects of her icon and agents of her execution.
(Saint) Joan deconstructs the Shaw work into seven voices of Jeanne D’arc’s iconography. Seven intersectional, and interdisciplinary artists embody the hero through the seven act structure presented by Shaw, giving an opportunity for each aspect of Joan to consider and criticize how her legend would later become revisioned.
Seven chairs, seven performers, and one blade for France.
